SAS Anniversary Flight

Join us on May 20, 2026, as we kick off our 80-year anniversary - an unforgettable journey through aviation history.

Daisy Experience

At the heart of this exclusive viewing experience is the Douglas DC-3 “Daisy” - an iconic aircraft that has witnessed defining moments of the 20th century. From flying missions during the D-Day Normandy landings to shaping early passenger travel, Daisy carries the stories that helped define modern aviation.

While the experience takes place on the ground, it offers a rare chance to get close to Daisy - watching her take off over Västerås, hearing the engines roar, and feeling the magic of a bygone era as she rises into the sky, marking the beginning of our 80-year anniversary celebrations.

Flown like a fighter!

“Daisy” is more than an aircraft - she is a living piece of history.

Originally built as a Douglas DC-3 / C-47 Skytrain, she played an active role in the historic Normandy landings. In the years that followed, Daisy transitioned into civilian life, connecting cities and people across Scandinavia as part of SAS.

Her journey did not end there. Over the decades, she continued to serve - first alongside SAS in Sweden, then with the Swedish Air Force - before becoming the treasured flying veteran she is today.

Today, she is carefully preserved and operated by Flygande Veteraner, based in Västerås. Restored in her classic SAS livery, Daisy continues to take to the skies – offering people a rare flight into aviation’s golden age.
